In the Sistine Chapel the greatest painters of the time contributed to the religious artwork on the walls and ceiling, including Michelangelo. Michelangelo  was told to paint a new ceiling which didn't thrill him. He preferred to sculpt. Of all the scenes painted by him, on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, one in particular is often talked about and shown,  the "Creation of Adam", it depicts a story from the Bible. Years after completing the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo was told to paint the story of the Last Judgment on the altar wall.
St. Peter's Basilica is the world's largest church. It holds 60,000 people!
